Sandeman Sherry Medium Dry

The Company:

  • Sandeman, the company was founded in 1790 in London by the Shotter George Sandeman. Later was followed by offices in Spain and Portugal. Since 2002, the company to Sogrape group.

Basic information:

  • The Medium Dry Sherry is a sweet wine mittelsüße this series, as one could guess from the name before. Sherry is produced in general in the so-called Solera method. The Solera process can be thought of simplified like this. It usually consists of three rows of barrels.
    Das Solera-Verfahren

    The Solera process

The lower barrel series is called Solera. For each barrel row than one third is taken from that now missing third is replenished from the overlying barrel range and the third is now missing from the second row from the third barrel. This process is repeated depending on the amount of the superposed barrels and on. The top barrel is then filled with new wine again. The wine goes through over time, so all ages of the sherry which contributes substantially to the distinctive sherry taste. The best known varieties of the Sandeman Sherry are "dry", "medium dry" and "Cream". Dry sherry can be wonderful served as an appetizer, just as the medium dry with this because of its quite sweet note does not always meet the taste. It is also useful as a digestive. As an accompanying sweet wine to a dessert can be served Scherry Cream of the consistency of her already well into liquorous passes and water is sweet.

My opinion:

  • As probably one of the most popular Southern wines in Germany can be the "Sandemans" wonderful before or after taking any meal. However, I think that also a wonderfully spacious and recently renovated evening will be rounded off with a relaxing glass of sherry may, as it is to enjoy something.
